Arriving by airplane at Schiphol Airport

If you arrive at Schiphol Airport, you have two options to reach the NVAO’s offices: you can (1) take a train, or (2) you can take a taxi.

Option 1: Take the train to The Hague

From Schiphol Airport there are several direct trains to the  two stations of The Hague: Den Haag Centraal (The Hague Central Station) and Den Haag Hollands Spoor (The Hague HS).
By train it takes approximately 40 minutes to get to The Hague. Schiphol railway station is situated directly below the airport. Tickets are available from the yellow vending machines (cash, credit card or debit card). Tickets purchased from the ticket offices, situated close to the red/white‐checked cube at Schiphol Plaza, will include a service fee.
Monitors show the train departure information. If you are departing/arriving at night or in the early morning, the railway's night network could be the answer. The night trains travel once an hour between Schiphol Airport and The Hague Central Station and vice versa.

Option 2: Take a taxi
Depending on the traffic, a private taxi from Schiphol to The Hague can take between 40 minutes and one and a half hour. Expect to pay at least 60 - 70 euro.

Arriving by train at Den Haag Centraal (The Hague Central Station)
If Den Haag Centraal is your final stop then you have two options to reach the NVAO’s offices: you can (1) take a bus, (2) take a tram, or (3) you can take a brisk walk.

Option 1: Take the bus

The bus station is located on the floor above the station Den Haag Centraal. Follow the signs in the station and find the platform where you can take bus 23 (direction: Schevening Noorderstrand) or bus 24 (direction: Kijkduin).

The stop nearest NVAO’s offices is called Mauritskade. These stops are indicated on the screens in the tram so it will not be difficult to follow the tram’s progress. It takes about 5 minutes to get from Den Haag Centraal to the stop Mauritskade. Then it’s about 100 metres from the tram stop to the NVAO.

Option 2: Take the tram #10 (not between 10:00 AM -16:00 PM)

The tram station is located just outside the station Den Haag Centraal. Follow the signs in the station and find the platform where you can take tram 10 in the direction: Statenkwartier.

Option 3: Walk (1,6 km)

The third option is a brisk walk through the city. You’ll pass by the arts academy and the American Embassy and you’ll walk through the most prominent lane in The Hague.

Arriving by train at Den Haag HS (The Hague Hollands Spoor)

If Den Haag HS is your final stop then you have three options to reach the NVAO’s offices: you can (1) take a tram, (2) change trains to go to Den Haag CS (Central Station) or (3) take a brisk walk.

Option 1: Take the tram

Outside the station Den Haag HS you will find all the tram stations. When walking out, you should head towards the tram station on the left hand side. Here you board tram 1 (direction: Scheveningen Noorderstrand) or tram 10 (direction: Statenkwartier).
The stop nearest NVAO’s offices is called Mauritskade. These stops are normally indicated on the screens in the tram. It doesn’t take longer than 10 minutes to get from Den Haag HS to the stop Mauritskade. Then it’s about 100 metres from the tram stop to the NVAO.

Option 2: Change trains

You can change the train at Den Haag HS to go to Den Haag CS (the Central Station). This train probably leaves on the opposite platform as where you arrive. The train is normally already indicated to arrive.

From the Central Station you have the three options included above: you can walk 1.6 km to NVAO’s offices or you can get on either a bus or a tram to get to the NVAO’s offices.

Option 3: Walk (2 km)

The third option is a brisk walk through the centre of the city. You’ll pass through the Chinese quarter, the high street shopping area and the City Palace.
